Old Movies: Flying Death Ninjas... of Death
Genre:
Comedy/Action
Production Company: Kupla Klap
Premise: A group of four guys have invitations
to what may very well be the party of the century, but if they don't leave soon,
they'll miss it. They still need to pick everybody up, buy togas, and... save
the world?
Background: After being given
an entire semester to film a video, Alex Nowrasteh, Jeremiah Benson, Kenton
Collup, Tommy Sparks, and Jeff Orr, finally got started. This was the first
film of a series of projects that started with a person waking up. Edited by
Jeremiah with nothing more than a VCR. The film was preceded by a stop-motion
animation preview of Jeremiah's creation for a fictional Teletubbies movie to
be released sometime in the year 2035. Jeff choreographed a dance sequence near
the end of the film. Because none of the actors had their driver's licenses
at the time, the illusion of vehicular motion was provided by Alex in one scene
and Patrick in another walking backwards past the car. This did little to mask
the unchanging backdrop, but nevertheless the idea was conveyed that the car
was moving. This film featured numerous clips from movies ranging from Star
Wars, to Last of the Mohicans, to Apocalypse Now. Unfortunately the raw footage
for this film was taped over and the only existing VHS copy was broken and subsequently
lost. But those of us lucky enough to have seen can attest to its glory.
